Redemption Song Foundation in the News!

A fifty-something Ugandan Batwa man stands near a tree looking wistfully to his right. He's wearing a white and brown plaid short and a red cap. He has a mustache. The quote on the image says "We have no business with the trees now. We were evicted. We would be arrested in caught there," laments Kyomukama.

Redemption Song Foundation is in the news! We just added a Media page! It highlights all the articles, podcasts, and short films in which RSF was mentioned. These include Q&A style interviews with our founder Wendee Nicole, short documentaries about the Batwa that mention RSF but are not exclusively about us, and journalism articles that Wendee wrote just prior to starting the organization.

Several recent pieces highlight the incredible accomplishments of Wendee's daughter Joyce who was adopted from the village and has volunteered there for many years, and is now at Stanford University after winning a New York Times student essay competition. Check out one of the podcasts if listening is more your style. But click through the Media link above, or the button below to get the whole page with all the choices.

Highlights from our Media Page:

One compelling interview explores the special relationship forged between RSF’s Executive Director and her adopted daughter from the Batwa Tribe. In a moving episode of Driftwood Conversations, host Hilary Sloane, Wendee, and Joyce discuss how they built a family from the ground up and across cultures over the years, and how the charity work is interwoven in their lives, because the recipients of our work in social justice, livelihood immprovement projects, and education, aren't nameless kids but family. A rising tide helps all.

For those who desire a brief but stronger understanding of the heartwarming origin of Redemption Song Foundation, an article in the magazine DeutscheWelle, presents the beginnings of RSF, and how Wendee's interest in social justice philanthropy blossomed through her earlier journalism experiences in Uganda. It takes the reader back to the very beginnings of RSF and Wendee's first stirrings that something should be done, could possibly be done, to improve the quality of life for the evicted tribe from the Bwindi Impenetrable rainforest. It’s a fascinating read.

So, take a moment and peruse the wide variety of media pieces that RSF has assembled in one spot for easy reading. Just go to our Media page to find a complete listing of all the relevant information you need to learn more. You will be up to speed in minutes on the history, accomplishments, key players, and ongoing challenges that is the Redemption Song Foundation. Enjoy!
