"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me."
We work with indigenous Batwa "pygmies" just outside of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which until 1991 was their forest homeland. Now they live in settlements at the edge of the park. For the past 3 years, we have worked mainly within Kalehe Village, creating a more sustainable community, with clean water, improved livelihoods through our artisan coop, and education for children.
RSF is seeking a full-time volunteer in Uganda to help with our school, or community development projects.
We also have many volunteer opportunities and needs, and list them at Volunteer Match. We have projects that can be done from anywhere in the world. We're specifically looking for assistance with accounting, grant writing, social media management, blog and newsletter writing and design, and nonprofit development!
In honor of Nobel Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai's Green Belt Movement and the UN Trillion Trees campaign...
We're planting 🌳 10,000 trees 🌳 to support the Batwa! For just $5 you can plant one tree while supporting the community, our incredible Ugandan staff, and other initiatives. Donate $5 and become an RSF member. Plant a tree in someone's honor, if you'd like!
Our annual #GivingTuesday campaign is here!
We've spent 5 years doing triage. Now that health and education have stabilized we are turning back to one of our original goals: a sustainable environment. With climate change accelerating, let's help green Africa, provide a source of firewood to the Batwa so they don't have to get it from illegal sources, and mitigate climate change through carbon capture. We will plant a mix of native trees, fruit trees, and fast-growing eucalyptus.
You can donate through our website's donation page, or mail a check to RSF, PO Box 876, Frisco, TX 75034.
Love to all ❤️🌲,
